There are very few fashion labels out there that are focused on sustainable, slow fashion. We are living in a world of fast fashion, where people are convinced they need to buy a new outfit every week. And with the average Australian buying 27kg of textiles per year, and dumping 23kg of those into landfill, it's clear that the fashion industry needs to reinvent how we shop. That is why, local brands that are focusing on ethical, slow fashion are becoming so popular. Not only does it save you money, by buying clothing that is designed to last and be worn in very season but you are also helping reduce the huge amount of waste heading into landfill each year. Oh, and you actually get to feel good about buying clothes (not hiding every new purchase that you really didn't need anyway). Fern and the Wolf is a brand that is at the forefront of this concept. It all started when the creator, Jenna, decided she was sick of constantly buying clothes that didn't last or fell out of fashion quickly. She wanted to create a label that fitted into all women's lifestyles, that would last them through the years and that could easily be mixed and matched to fit into any season. She has used Australia as her inspiration. Using the coastline and red centre of this inspiring country to create her beautiful pieces. Her focus was to design clothing that is durable, sustainable for the environment and, most importantly, look great on. All the pieces are made to match or be easily matched with what you already own in your closet without breaking the bank. Is there anything more annoying than buying a piece and realising you need to go buy like four different bottoms to actually wear with it? Or buying an outfit that rips, fades, splits open after a week of wearing? Yeah, we've all been through it. But not anymore, Fern and the Wolf is going to become your staple pieces that will get you through the year. It is easy to see that this label is made with love and passion. Each piece has been made with the intention of becoming apart of real woman's lives. It is so important that we, as consumers, wake up to the environmental impact we are creating when we shop. It is so easy to make a change in our lifestyle habits, and when the change looks this good - why would you not!
